Matt Dery's Daily Update 3-4-11

The Lions have reportedly tendered a contract to Drew Stanton. Detroit News says it's an original round tender so a 2nd round tender. Just yesterday the team said so long to Kevin Smith and Julian Peterson.

Labor talks continued this morning in Washington D.C. with the NFLPA ready to extend the current CBA for another 7 to 10 days to continue negotiating. Reports say it's up to the owners now to agree to that and get back to the bargaining table on Monday.

A frustrated Joel Zumaya telling reports this morning that he doesn't have answers as to when he will return to game action for the Tigers. The right hander continues to experience soreness in his surgically repaired right elbow.

Tigers lead the Orioles 1-0 in the top of the 4th in Lakeland today. Rick Porcello had 3 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit. Brennan Boesch with a windblown RBI pop up single. The game today is on AM 1270.

Michigan and Michigan State tomorrow afternoon in Ann Arbor, a chance for the Wolverines to finish the regular season at 9-9 in the league for MSU. They'd love to head into the Big Ten Tournament with back to back win.
