4-G Service Coming To Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -  AT&T announced in Detroit that it will bring 4-G service to the Motor City and will be upgrading a number of cell lines in order to increase access.

In its presentation, the company's new Atrix device was used.

AT&T announces 4-G service coming to Detroit. The new ATRIX is demonstrated during the presentation.

Spokesman for AT&T Rick Fox describes it as very unique.

"You can hook it up to a laptop doc and use it as a computer, you can use it hooked up to a TV, it's so powerful it's got a processor in the phone that is...it can run your laptop and really more functional for people who are traveling or on the go," Fox tells WWJ's Pat Sweeting.

AT&T is no longer offering unlimited data plans to i-Phone users. As a result there's concern among many former i-Phone users that the unlimited data plans they signed-up for may be cancelled.
"Everyone wants to think that they are in the higher tier of data use, but if you actually look at it, only about three percent are in that highest tier, so they were paying for things they weren't using. Everyone wants to have unlimited because you don't want to be limited...but most people just don't need it," says Fox.

But, AT&T spokesman Rick Fox says those customers are being grandfathered-in. Fox points out, though, that most people don't use the data feature as much as they expected....

Fox suggests iPhone users visit the AT&T website and see for themselves exactly how much time they actually do spend online via the device.
