No International Calls For Michigan Prisoners
DETROIT (WWJ) - A federal judge says there's nothing illegal about limiting international phone calls from Michigan prisons.
An inmate serving a life sentence sued after he couldn't use a prepaid phone card to make Christmas calls to relatives in Nicaragua and Colombia.
The state Corrections Department only allows calls to North America and U.S. territories.
The judge ruled that the Corrections department policy doesn't discriminate against the inmate because it applies to all prisoners.
