Robert Bobb Wants New Charter Schools In Detroit

Many parents are wondering which Detroit Public schools are going on the chopping block.

Detroit Public Schools Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb says the district is finalizing its list of closures this week. The plan is to send up to 16,000 students to new charter schools that would still be sanctioned by the district.

In total, Bobb is calling for the conversion of 41 public schools. He says the plan would help shave up to $99 million in costs.

Bobb says their other possible plan to lay off hundreds of teachers and put up to 65 students in a class -- as a way to fix the school's budget problems -- is now dead.
