Bomb Scare At McNamara Federal Building

DETROIT (WWJ) – Police said a bomb squad has removed and destroyed a suspicious metal box that was found at a federal office building in downtown Detroit on Friday.

Fox 2 reported that the suspicious object found at the McNamara Federal Building did indeed contain explosives.

Officers were called to the office building on Friday morning. The building houses offices for the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration and others.
An FBI spokeswoman said an investigation is ongoing. Reportedly, the device could have done some serious damage, causing serious injury or possibly even death to someone who may have opened it.
