Count me among Sidney Crosby’s detractors.
It’s because since Crosby entered the National Hockey League, there has just been too much about him.
As in too much promotion by the league. There is no truth that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman’s New York license plates read “I (heart) Sidney Crosby.”
But they might as well.
As in too much praise for Crosby by fans, especially those in Canada, who seem to downplay the skill level of the great European players such as those on the Red Wings, while overstating the greatness of Crosby.
And there is Crosby himself. The whining. Both on the ice, which isn’t subtle all, and off the ice. When things don’t go perfectly, it is never his fault. Ever.
