Dearborn Reverses The Population Trend
DETROIT (WWJ) - Dearborn is nationally known as the home of Ford Motor Co., the Henry Ford museum and one of the most concentrated Middle Eastern communities.
Now it can boast about bucking a trend that saw Detroit and other surrounding communities lose population.
The census numbers released last week don't note it, but officials and experts say a rising tide of Arab immigrants and their growing families have helped the city hold its demographic ground.
Dearborn recorded a slight population increase, climbing a half of a percent. Other neighboring communities lost people and Detroit saw its population drop by a staggering 25 percent.
