Kirkland's Launches New Web Site Designed, Developed and Hosted by Fry

Ann Arbor-based Fry Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Micros Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: MCRS), announced that Kirkland's, a specialty retailer of home decor, has launched its newly designed Web site on Fry's Open Commerce Platform.

The new site marks Kirkland's first foray into eCommerce since 2006, when a previous site was taken offline. Since the site launch in November 2010, www.kirklands.com is steadily growing its sales due to the best-practice user experience and the marketing and customer service capabilities that Fry's Open Commerce Platform offers.

Fry offered a new front-end creative design and back-end integration with multiple third-party software providers for email management, address validation, credit card authorization, and gift card capabilities. Fry is also hosting and supporting the site with managed services which provided perfect uptime during last year's holiday season.

Said Mark Krebs, vice president of marketing at Kirkland's: "Sales online are outpacing our best brick-and-mortar stores. Additionally, Fry's OCP platform is providing us with the ability to increase our product selection for our customers, which we expect will have a significant positive impact on customer satisfaction and online revenue."

Web orders are managed via the order management system that is built into the Fry platform. Features on the front-end include robust My Account functionality that offers the ability for a customer to save a "preferred store" to facilitate loyalty and in-store pickup on select merchandise.

Added Rudy Pataro, president of Fry: "The flexibility and robust feature set of Fry's Open Commerce Platform is contributing to the early success of Kirkland's website because it offers the customer a seamless shopping experience and the retailer robust content management features. We are confident that the site will continue to be a strong and growing revenue generator for Kirkland's and we look forward to a long partnership with them."

Kirkland's operates 296 stores in 30 states. Kirkland's was co-founded in 1966 by its current chairman emeritus, Carl Kirkland. The company's first store was in Jackson, Tenn.

Kirkland's stores present a broad selection of distinctive merchandise, including framed art, mirrors, candles, lamps, picture frames, accent rugs, garden accessories and artificial floral products.
