Suspicious Package Brings Bomb Squad To Federal Bank

DETROIT (WWJ) - A bomb squad has been called out to the Detroit Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago at Russell and Warren near Eastern Market. 

FBI agents and Detroit police and fire crews are on the scene .

A suspicious box was found, according to FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold, and after investigation it appears the box was empty.

"We are going to investigate to find out, there was nothing inside the boxes," says a spokesperson for the bomb squad.

"If there was something, it could have been a problem, so right now everything is fine. Right now we are going to do our due diligence and make sure those devices are handled properly," the spokesperson adds.

Police and Fire departments are on the scene and continue to investigate.
