Matt Dery’s Daily Update 4-7-11

Good news for the Red wings, Henrik Zetterberg will not see surgery; the All-Star forward says he is day to day with what the team is calling a lower body injury. Zetterberg will not play in the final 2 regular season games. When asked if he would return at some point during the playoffs he said “absolutely”. Mike Babcock also would not give out any information on what exactly is ailing Zetterberg but MRI results did come back negative.

The Tigers bullpen just got a bit more thin as Ryan Perry is forced to the 15 day DL with an eye infection. Robbie Weinhardt has been recalled from Triple A Toledo. Tigers and Orioles tonight from Camden Yards, Brad Penny is on the hill for Detroit who is trying to bounce back from a rough first start. Righty Chris Tillman throws for the O’s.

Frozen Four hockey tonight, Michigan is two wins away from a national championship, they are in St. Paul to face North Dakota.
