Before The Tigers' Birth, The Wolverines Made Detroit A Big League City
DETROIT (WWJ) - One hundred-thirty years ago, the up-and-coming" Paris of the West" burst with civic pride when its 1881 Wolverines Baseball Team took the field for the first time -- eventually destined to win a proto-World Series against what are now the St. Louis Cardinals before vanishing into the boneyard of the almost-forgotten.
