Fatal Shooting In Oak Park

OAK PARK (WWJ) - Police were called to the scene of a fatal shooting in Oak Park Friday night. 

Speaking with WWJ's Terri Lee, Oak Park Police Lieutenant Marlon Benson said officers were called to the scene by witnesses who called to report a fight involving a person with a gun.

"Officers arrived to find a gunshot victim laying in the roadway on eastbound 8 Mile near Freeland. The victim had suffered a fatal gunshot to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene," Benson said.

When officers arrived, witnesses were quick to point officers to the two suspects, who were swiftly apprehended just blocks away from the crime.

"Officers immediately arrived in the area and the two subjects that were involved were immediately arrested in the area of Norfolk and Hubbell in the City of Detroit without incident and taken into custody," Benson said.  

The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
