DPS Sends Out 5,700 Layoff Notices

DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit Public School Administrators have sent formal layoff notices to more than 5,700 district employees.

The district is in process of determining how many employees will actually be laid off to match declining student enrollment, but is required to supply advance notice.

The effective date of the layoffs is the end of the day on Friday, July 29, 2011.
