"Thor" Scores Big At Box Office; "Fast Five" Holding Its Own

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - The new movie "Thor" -- about the God of Thunder -- packed the biggest punch at the weekend box office. However, last week's big winner "Fast Five" managed to hold its own in its second week on the big screen.

Whether or not you've seen the previous "Fast and Furious' movies, you may want to catch the latest installment -- at least before the next one comes out. That's because even though there's been no official announcement (not yet anyway), it's a safe bet to say there's another one on the way. Take the time to sit through the credits and you'll see what I mean.

As far as Fast Five is concerned, it's non-stop action from beginning to end. Some of what the "Furious" gang manages to pull off is nothing short of amazing, and definitely pretty creative, to say the least. And, all of that action keeps the audience on the edge of its seat.

The storyline revolves around former cop Brian O'Conner who partners with ex-con Dom Toretto. Brian and Mia Toretto (Dom's sister) break Dom out of prison and to elude authorities, wind up in Rio de Janeiro. In order to break free, they need to pull off one last job -- one that would be insurmountable for most -- but definitely not for the "Furious."

Fast Five stars Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto; Paul Walker as Brian O'Conner; Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto; Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce; and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges as Tej Parker.

In just 10 days, it's brought in a total of nearly $140 million.
