Boil Water, No School In Monroe

MONROE (WWJ) – The city of Monroe is under a boil water advisory for the next 48 hours.

Officials say tests showed coliform bacteria in the water system. As a result, Monroe Public Schools is cancelling classes on Thursday until the district can obtain a supply of water.

Six of 72 samples drawn this month showed presence of the germs.

Authorities suggest bringing drinking water to a full boil, and letting it cool before drinking.
