DJ Harvey, The Dirtbombs, Tortured Soul, Beardyman & Goldie Are Some Of The Many Highlights

Movement Electronic Music Festival comes to Detroit every Memorial Day weekend — bringing international fans and artists to Hart Plaza. What’s special about this years’ lineup? A little birdie has given us the details.

Step Outside Of The Norm

If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary, this year is blessed to have some hard-hitting, left of center experimental beat artists from the Los Angeles based forward thinking label Brainfeeder. All will be performing on the Red Bull Stage throughout the weekend with Daedelus Saturday, Gas Lamp Killah on Sunday and Brainfeeder head honcho Flying Lotus closing out the weekend Monday night. The latter being a performance not to be missed if you’re looking to stray from the traditional “four on the floor” beats of techno and house.

If you’re into organic beats over the traditional superstar DJ Movement is known for be sure to check out Tortured Soul. The Brooklyn, NY three-piece band will be playing a unique blend of live house and soul Saturday at 7:00 pm on the Main Stage.

DJ Harvey Is An Opening Act?!

People in “the scene” are excited to say that this years’ festival lineup is one of the best ever. Every stage, all weekend, seems to be stacked with world-class talent from beginning to end. This is evident by the fact that England’s own DJ Harvey is opening up the festival’s main Vitaminwater stage with an impressive three-hour set. No where else in the world would a man that is famous for throwing his own legendary weekend long parties and festivals across the world be an opening act. This really exemplifies the talent that Paxahau and Detroit have brought in this year. Don’t miss DJ Harvey’s unique blend of Disco/House/Hip-Hop and Punk that will be sure to get your body moving.

Beardyman … It’s Hard To Explain

He’s the first artist to make all of his beats with his mouth. That’s right, he’ll create a whole show by looping his own recorded sounds and then mixing them flawlessly into tracks that span the electronic music spectrum. Don’t believe me? Just check him out on YouTube or his recent performance from Conan.

Festival Debuts, Goldie And The Dirtbombs

Goldie will bring the Junglist/DnB (drum and bass) heads out of the woodwork for what will possibly be the highest energy performance of the weekend.

Detroit’s own The Dirtbombs create their live take on the local techno sound.
