Royal Oak's Skidmore Offers 'Guide To Surviving Mackinac'

Just in time for the Detroit Regional Chamber Mackinac Policy Conference, the Royal Oak creative agency Skidmore Studio is out with a new Mackinac Survival Guide, a mobile Web site created especially for the conference on Mackinac Island, this year being held Wednesday, June 1 - Friday, June 3.

Skidmore says the unofficial networking guide to the conference aims to entertain attendees between sessions and provide helpful advice on networking.

Included is everything from a handshake guide to special rules for mixing work with play, and an insider's feed about who's doing what - where, the Mackinac Survival Guide will prove to be essential reading for attendees and non-attendees alike.

The guide was developed with creativity and humor, featuring six "merit badges" users can attain by participating in a number of activities and games, including King of the Porch and Mr. President.

The app also invites users to contribute to the conversation -- or take an insider's peek at the activities -- by checking out Twitter hashtag #surviveMPC. Here you'll find news about anything and everything happening at the conference, from Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson's latest quip to that impromptu press conference on the porch to other attendees' survival tips.

The mobile site is part of Skidmore Studio's sponsorship of the official Recharge Technology station that helps attendees download apps, QR Code readers, recharge their mobile devices and also find some humor to pass the time.

"As an attendee of Mackinac for many years, I've seen the use of mobile devices grow," said Tim Smith, president of Skidmore Studio. "This provides a combination of helpful advice and playful fun that helps the networking on the front porch seem more interesting."
