Matt Dery’s Daily Update 6-1-11

The Tigers winning streak over the Twins has now reached 8. Detroit has owned Minnesota dating back to last year and they go for the sweep of the 3 game set tonight at Comerica Park. Rick Porcello on the hill for the Tigers who have scored nearly 9 runs a game during this streak against the Twins. Minnesota counters with Scott Baker. Detroit News reports it’s likely Magglio Ordonez will rejoin the Tigers Monday night in Texas. The plan is for the veteran outfielder to go thru a rehab stint this weekend with Toledo and then come back.

Business will start to get done very soon up at the Palace as 97.1 The Ticket has learned that Tom Gores will begin meeting with Pistons staffers tomorrow. The NBA’s owners unanimously agreed to vote through the sale of the team to Gores and the deal could be finalized today.

Jim Schwartz joining Karsch and Anderson earlier today here on the Ticket, the coach just waiting like everybody else hoping the lockout can be lifted and he can coach his guys again. The Lions boss has to just sit around and watch and hear the reports about his player’s workouts. Schwartz says he is proud of his veteran leadership for organizing the workouts.
