Jack Kevorkian Still Hospitalized

ROYAL OAK (AP) - The man who made the issue of assisted suicide a hot topic, continues to be hospitalized in Royal Oak.

84-year-old Jack Kevorkian was hospitalized last week with kidney and respiratory problems at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. His attorney Mayer Morganroth had anticipated he would have been released by now. However, now he says the doctor continues to struggle to regain his strength.

Morganroth says Kevorkian is at the hospital under an alias to discourage an expected onslaught of letters, flowers and uninvited bedside guests.

Kevorkian reportedly has assisted in a 130 suicides. He went to prison in 1999 for his role in the death of a Lou Gehrig's patient.
