2 Missing Michigan Kids Found Safe In Iowa

NEWTON, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say two Michigan children have been found safe in central Iowa and their mother and her boyfriend have been arrested.

The 12-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl were reported missing from Holland, Mich., on Friday night. Authorities say the kids' biological mother, Donna Perez, is not their custodial parent.

Authorities were tipped that the kids, Perez and her boyfriend could be headed for Iowa.

Des Moines television station WHO is reporting that the Iowa State Patrol found the four around noon on Saturday near Newton, which is about 30 miles east of Des Moines.

Perez and Larry Guajardo were taken into custody. Perez faces kidnapping charges. Guajardo is being held on drug charges. Online court records don't list their attorneys.
