Tigers Statement On The Passing Of Jim Northrup
"The Detroit Tigers organization was saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Northrup. Jim dedicated 21 years with the Tigers, parts of 11 seasons as a player, and 10 in the Tigers television booth. Jim was instrumental in the Tigers 1968 World Series championship season. His significant contributions with the bat and the versatility he demonstrated in the outfield will always be remembered as one of the greatest World Series performances in Tigers history. The entire Tigers organization extends their heartfelt condolences to his wife, Patty, his children Kamil, Azaria, Jim, Paige and Kate, and the entire Northrup family."
The Tigers are planning to have a moment of silence in memory of Jim Northrup prior to tonight's game against the Seattle Mariners at Comerica Park.
