"Oz" Call For Extras Has Hundreds Lined Up For Casting Call

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Metro Detroiters turned out in large numbers for a casting call for the movie: "Oz: The Great and Powerful." It's a prequel to the Wizard of Oz. Hundreds stood in line for up to an hour to drop off a photo and some information at Raleigh Studios in Pontiac. Elena Cross from Owosso says this audition was different from when she auditioned for a spot as an extra in Transformers 3:

"It was screened last time, we sent all of our information in to them  and then they contacted us, only if they were interested, so the first thing I did was my costume fitting, came in filled out all my paperwork, tried on stuff and that was it," said Cross.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Stephanie Davis was outside the studio in Pontiac and reports that there's a good chance that most people who came out Saturday will make the cut as an extra in this movie, WWJ is hearing that Raleigh Studios could be looking for thousands of  extras.

Debra Ballard from Royal Oak is hopeful: "It just sounded like a lot of fun and I have the time to do it, I retired recently so I thought I'd come out."

Behind Ballard was another hopeful extra Dave McCall from Rochester Hills,"I've read and I've listened to "Wicked" the musical, I've read a little bit of the prequel stuff, I have the original audio books on tape, CD - all that," said McCall.

"Oz:  The Great And Powerful" will be released in 2012.
