81-Year-Old Retired Cop Shot During Carjacking

DETROIT (WWJ) – An 81-year-old retired Detroit police officer who was shot Monday during a carjacking is in critical condition.

Officials say the officer returned fire on the man who stole his 2010 silver Ford Escape at the U.S. Post office near Chene and Gratiot.

The car has been recovered, but police are still looking for the suspect.

It’s unclear whether the suspect was hit by the officer.
