DETROIT (WWJ) – What’s the definition of a good leader? And, what makes a good leader?
WWJ’s City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas conducted an informal survey to gather some opinions. Vickie found that “a tough decision maker, creative and compassionate” are some of the words used to describe a great leader.
Karen Peterson, who works for Oakland County, and Dave Groth, an employee of Henry Ford Hospital West Bloomfield, just completed the Leadership Oakland class. Vickie asked them to rate our local leaders.
“I think our leaders are very innovative, especially with the economy that’s going on in Michigan right now,” Peterson said. “I mean, that’s what it takes. It takes everybody to come together and pull together to get through these tough times.”
Groth added, “I think (that) everybody here hasn’t given up on Michigan, and I think everyone wants to see the state succeed.”
Who do the two of them consider great leaders?
“A lot of the people I work for, actually, different leaders at Henry Ford Health System,” Groth said.
“I work for Oakland County. I mean Brooks has been awesome,” Peterson responded.
