Senior "Superstars" Of Sports & Recreation Shine

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Detroit Recreation Department's 27th Annual Detroit Senior Olympics continue today and run through Wednesday.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Tuesday, June 14

9 a.m. Tennis Finals at Belle Isle Tennis Courts
10 a.m. 5K & 10K Bike Races on Belle Isle (Casino)
10 a.m. Horseshoes at Butzel Family Center (7737 Kercheval)
11 a.m. Bowling at Hazel Park Bowl & Lounge (24211 Hughes, Hazel Park)
6 p.m. Bounce Volleyball at Lipke Recreation Center (19320 Van Dyke, Detroit)
6 p.m. Swimming at Adams/Butzel Complex (10500 Lyndon, Detroit)

Wednesday, June 15

All of the following events take place at Belle Isle:
8 a.m. Registration
9 a.m. Adult Senior Service Health Fair
9:30 a.m. Opening Ceremony – Belle Isle Casino
9:30 a.m. Arts & Crafts
9:30 a.m. Baking
9:45 a.m. Whist Tournament
9:45 a.m. 1 Mile Walk
10 a.m. Basketball Free Throw
10:30 a.m. Frisbee Toss
11 a.m. Square/Round Dance Demonstration
11:15 a.m. 1 Mile Run
12 p.m. Lunch
12:30 p.m. Softball Hit & Throw
1 p.m. Table Tennis
1:30 p.m. 50 & 100 Yard Dash
2 p.m. Prizes & Giveaways

Thursday, June 16, and Friday, June 17, are rain days.
