Holly Man And Son Share Very Special Father's Day

HOLLY (WWJ) - We're celebrating an unselfish act this Father's Day.  WWJ's Kathryn Larson reports about a single man from Holly who's saving one little boy from a life of living in foster home care.

Shaun Griffin decided some time ago to provide foster care for a little boy and that one call he got which brought then 4-year-old Victor to his door ... changed everything.

"The living situation was really pretty deplorable, he had bounced between many relatives, his first foster family kept him for a brief time, for reasons unknown they brought him back, and I got my phone call."

Shaun Griffin talks about the last 14 months with 5-year-old Victor from Pontiac.

"He adjusted so quickly that I thought, 'I must be doing something right here'", said Griffin.

Griffin says he's now adopting the little boy, and in just a few days, a rubber stamp will come down, officially marking the adoption of 5-year-old Victor.  Griffin says Victor's past is painful and after being neglected and shuffled from foster home to home, the kindergarten grad is now calling Griffin "dad". "Oh yeah, he started that about six months in...on his own, and using my last name at school," said Griffin.

"You certainly would never know the difference...that he wasn't my biological son, being with me now for 14 months, it's like he's never been with anybody else, it's a perfect fit really," said Griffin.

Griffin says he's just so happy to give his new son, his forever home. The two plan to spend Father's Day at the pool and riding in a new buggy.
