EMU Increases Tuition For 2011-12 School Year
YPSILANTI (WWJ) - Within a week of Michigan State University and University of Michigan announcing tuition increases, Eastern Michigan University follows suit with an increase of their own.
Eastern Michigan University is continuing its low-cost tuition strategy for 2011-12, holding the increase to 3.65 percent one year after freezing tuition altogether.
The university's regents approved the modest increase in the face of a significant cut in state aid to higher education.
The increase in Eastern Michigan's tuition and mandatory fees means a full-time in-state undergraduate will pay $8,683 for the 2011-12 academic year.
Last week, MSU approved a 6.9 percent increase and the U-M a 6.7 percent increase for in-state undergraduates.
