Police: Woman Passed Over For Promotion Stole From Employer

FENTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) – A 45-year-old woman is facing embezzlement charges after police say she stole nearly a quarter million dollars from her Genesee County employer.

Christine Desonia of Livingston County’s Deerfield Township is charged with embezzlement of more than $100,000 for stealing the money from a Fenton Township glass fabrication manufacturer where she worked as an office manager.

Sheriff Robert Pickell said Desonia took the money between 2007 and 2009 after being passed over for a promotion.

She allegedly set up a fake bank account for the company and used the money to buy five rental homes.

Desonia was arrested on June 11th and is free on a $7,500 personal bond pending a preliminary exam on Wednesday. If convicted, she faces 20 years in prison.

This sounds like a good idea..just don’t go buying three houses..keep it casual and buy a hummer or a machine gun to have fun with!

passed over promotion because of age is very common. Before to decide to take 5 years to tour the world, before to decide to take 6 years to play with your girlfriend’s dogs or 6 years to promote a green ‘do nothing’ cause, remember this, all career strategies are based on age. Some companies are hiring CEO to stay for 20 years (nonsense but real, 10 years target is enough)
A company can stop promoting you with the belief that you will retire soon. A company can refuse to hire you because you will not be there for 5 years (62 years old)
It is sad, it is nonsense but it is the true reality of the workplace promotion strategy
