DETROIT (WWJ) – Whether you go to the beach once a year or live within walking distance, do you know how clean your beach is?

The State Department of Environmental Quality announced a new website Monday with information on the water quality at more than 1,200 beaches across the state.

The DNR says fewer than one-percent of the state’s beaches are affected by sewer overflows during heavy, long rains each year.
