Summer Fun At Your Local Metropark

DETROIT (WWJ) - It is almost impossible to be bored when there is so much to do at your local Metroparks!  Huron-Clinton Metroparks offers numerous and fun activities for you to enjoy this month.

Wolcott Mill Metropark presents its "Sawdust Festival" on Saturday, July 10, allowing you to participate in period activities like dipping candles, cutting logs with a two-man saw and making rope. Preregistration is not required, but it costs $4 per person.  Children under 5 are free.

"It's Hip To Be Square," a night of square dancing, will take place on Saturday, July 16.  The Barn Dance will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costs $8 per person. Contact Wolcott Mill Metropark at 800-477-3175 or (586)-749-5997.

Wolcott Mill Metropark and Kensington Metropark will both offer introductions to fishing for kids.  Bring your kids to Wolcott Mill on July 15 or Kensington Metropark on July 19 and 20 for Fish Camp.  For costs and registration information, please visit their website event page.

Stony Creek Metropark offers a special family camping weekend, beginning Friday, July 22 to Sunday, July 24.  The campground will be located in a grass field adjacent to the Baypoint Beach parking lot, just a short walk to the beach.
