Hearing Delayed For Teen Mom In Stabbing

ROSEVILLE (WWJ)- A Roseville teenager will have to wait until next week to learn if she'll be tried as an adult after a deadly weekend stabbing. The 16-year old mother was arrested after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, the father of her newborn child, during an argument early Saturday morning.

Prosecutors say the charge will be first or second degree murder. A juvenile court hearing, Monday, was postponed.

Police said the victim, identified as 16-year-old Tremain Robert Poe, died after being stabbed in the abdomen with a kitchen knife.

The girl, whose name has not been released, is currently being held at the Macomb County Youth Home.

Friends of the victim say the suspect was upset Poe was "talking to other girls."

"She cut him the week before and he called his mom crying. And (his mom) told him, you need to come home, because if she cut you this time she's going to cut you again," said one friend, at the courthouse, Monday.

Defense attorneys have indicated the stabbing was in self-defense.

The couple's son is only three weeks old.
