Flags To Be Lowered In Honor Of Fallen Soldier
LANSING (WWJ) - U.S. flags in Michigan will be lowered Wednesday in honor of a soldier who died in Afghanistan.
Army Staff Sgt. Joshua Throckmorton died July 5 when an improvised explosive devise hit his unit in Afghanistan's Paktia province. His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday in Battle Creek. Throckmorton was 28.
Throckmorton served 15 months in Iraq and was three months into a one-year deployment in Afghanistan. He was awarded posthumously a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
The flag lowering was ordered by Gov. Rick Snyder.
