Mich. ACLU Sues US Over Racial Profiling Concern

DETROIT (AP) - The Michigan branch of the American Civil Liberties Union is suing the U.S. Justice Department to get access to records about the use of race and ethnicity in FBI investigations.

The ACLU says it filed a public-records request in 2010 but received mostly redacted information. The group is concerned that the FBI could be targeting certain ethnic groups and violating civil rights through racial profiling.

The ACLU filed a lawsuit Thursday in Detroit federal court. It wants a judge to order the Justice Department to release more records and waive any fees.

An email message seeking comment was sent to the Justice Department.
