Great Books For High School Kids

Students read less for pleasure as they get older. While in elementary school, almost all kids have books they read for fun, by high school, for many students, the thrill of reading is gone.

To help keep high school kids engaged in reading, Rick Ayers and Amy Crawford have edited a book called Great Books for High School Kids: A Teacher's Guide to Books That Can Change Teens' Lives.

Though written for teachers, the book provides an easy to use guide for parents to help steer students to books they will enjoy. It even features help locating further reading for young people, based on books they may have already read and enjoyed.
