BEVERLY HILLS (WWJ) – A 10-year-old boy says three teenagers pulled a gun on him during recess at a high-end summer camp in Beverly Hills.
As WWJ Newsradio 950′s Marie Osborne reports, the mother is so shaken by the incident she did not want her name revealed. She just wants to sound a warning to parents they need to check safety procedures at summer camps.
The mother said her son and another boy approached three teens during a recess at Camp Beverly Hills Club Monday afternoon offering a game of basketball, when one of the teenagers pulled a gun. Her son says the gunman told them not to move and fired the gun in the air. After asking for the shoes of one of the boys, the teens reportedly called them “suckers” and ran off.
“My son and the other boy went up to the counselor to tell him that there were three teenagers in the park with a gun and the counselor did nothing. He continued on with recess.”
The mother said police were not called in for a while and parents were not notified of the incident.
“I’m most upset about how it was handled. How it took so long to call police, the fact that they never called the parents of the two boys in the incident and I want other parents to know.”
The mother said when she confronted the camp owner, he offered her future camp privileges for free, promising to change camp policies. Meantime, the boys are cooperating with police, trying to identify the teenagers involved.
“He actually described the gun to the detective. It was a black gun. The detective asked him if it had a yellow tip, he said no, it’s a black gun with two, with red stripes on each side.”
Beverly Hills police would not comment on the ongoing investigation. An attorney for the club says the club has taken every precaution to protect the children.

“High end summer camp”. Hardly. BHC camp is simply a day camp. And a “gun was shot in the air” ? Sounds fishy. Any gun shot heard in quiet Beverly Hills, especially that close to the police station, would be cause for investigation, at least by neighbors if not law enforcement. I am skeptical of the story, sorry.

This has been a rule of thumb in America for years and years and I’ve been saying it for years and years.
If the race of the perp is non-white, their race will NEVER be mentioned.
If the race of the perp is white, the word ‘White’ will be splashed all over the title and the article many times.
There have been scores of thousands; hundreds of thousands of stories of black on white crime (look up the FBI stats by race) reported in every medium. The above rule will almost NEVER be broken, because 99% of the media is so far to the left, they could switch jobs with college professors in a heartbeat.

So were the kid’s shoes taken? It is left unclear. My guess would be no, but the point should be clarified. Also, if the gun was fired into the air, it should be possible to find where the bullet landed, and use it to help identify the type of gun involved, and if such a gun is found, to determine if it is the actual gun involved. If no bullet is found, it may be that it wasn’t a real gun, it may have been a starter’s pistol or something similar, shooting blanks.
