Recall Efforts Continue For Some State Lawmakers

LANSING (WWJ) - We could see some movement this week in the attempts to recall some state lawmakers.

WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick reports that an announcement could come later this week from recallers in Genesee County that they believe they have gathered enough signatures to put on the ballot the recall of Republican Rep. Paul Scott, the chair of the House Education Committee.

Meanwhile, lawmakers in Lansing are divided on the efficacy of recalls. "I don't care if it's a Republican or a Democrat, I've never believed in recalls," says Rep. Harold Haugh. However, Rep. George Darany sees it differently. "I have signed recall petitions," says Darany. And when asked what he thought if there ever was a recall attempt on him, Darany replied, "Well, I would say it's your right to do so. Why not?"

The recall for Representative Scott could be on the November ballot, if enough signatures are obtained.
