Police Find 5 Children During Michigan Drug Raid

HAGAR TOWNSHIP (AP) - Five children ages 8 and under are in state protective custody after they were found in a West Michigan apartment during a drug raid.

The Berrien County sheriff's office says Thursday that officers found methamphetamine and marijuana in the Hagar Township apartment, about 60 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.

The youngest child is 14 weeks old. All of the children were turned over to the state Human Services department after Wednesday night's raids.

A 26-year-old man from Coloma was arrested and charged with maintaining a drug house. A 30-year-old Benton Harbor woman was charged with methamphetamine possession. A 31-year-old Benton Harbor man was charged with marijuana possession.

Authorities also seized $351 in cash. The raid followed a two-week investigation.
