Another Female Assaulted In Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - University of Michigan campus police say another woman has been assaulted in Ann Arbor.

Officials say the attack happened around 2:00 am Thursday on Thompson Street near the West Quad. A female student was walking when she was grabbed by a man. After a struggle, she managed to break free. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 50's, thin build, clean-shaven, bald or very short hair, wearing a green shirt, dark-colored pants and a light-colored baseball cap.

U of M police spokeswoman Diane Brown said this attack is probably not related to the multiple incidents of sexual assaults or attempted sexual assaults in recent weeks near the campus.

"There are a number of elements in this description that are different from the description of the incidents that are reported in July. The age if this person is much older than what had previously been described and also the race," Brown said.

Anyone with information about any of the attacks is asked to contact the U of M Department of Public Safety at 734-763-1131, the Ann Arbor Police Department's tip line at 734-794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
