Owner Of Stolen Dream Cruise Car Gets Apology And Cash

DETROIT (WWJ) - Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson delivered a personal apology to a Pennsylvania man whose classic car was stolen at this past weekend's Woodward Dream Cruise.

Ron Rodriguez had his 1959 Cadillac stolen from the parking lot of a Wixom hotel early Saturday.  The vehicle was recovered Sunday in Detroit.

Patterson, who also offered Rodriguez $1,000 to help cover damages to his car... said he wanted him "to have a better memory" of his visit than he otherwise would have had.

"It's not just across the country, it's international, if people from around the world are watching or coming in from Australia, from Europe ... it had the potential for being a black eye, and I think we have resolved that hopefully," said Patterson.

The check is coming from a fund used to promote business in Oakland County.
