Campaign Underway To Get Kids Insured For New School Year
DETROIT (WWJ) - Enroll Michigan is kicking off a campaign Tuesday in cities such as Southgate and Lansing in an effort to get kids insured for the new school year.
The "Back to School Campaign" is aimed at enrolling children in the two of Michigan's free and low-cost health insurance plans: MI-Child and Healthy Kids.
David Seaman - with the Michigan Health and Hospital Association - says they are very comprehensive programs.
"The coverage would be for what most people would consider the most important medical care and services, and it includes immunizations, office visits, dental care, routine checkups, hospital services, sports physicals. All the services a child needs to grow up healthy," said Seaman.
Seaman says the about 75% of the 127,000 uninsured kids are eligible for the coverage.
