Team Injuries

–UT Ryan Raburn (jammed left ring finger) suffered the injury Aug. 27. He sat out Aug. 28.

–RF Brennan Boesch (sore right thumb) left the Aug. 24 game, and he did not play Aug. 25-28. He is day-to-day. There’s no target date set for his return but Boesch said he plans to begin swinging a bat again Aug. 29.

–DH Victor Martinez (sore left knee) is still bothered by his knee, which is keeping him from catching but not preventing him from serving as a designated hitter. As of Aug. 28, he reported improvement in his sore left knee but said he still couldn’t squat down to catch.

–2B Carlos Guillen (sore left wrist) went on the 15-day disabled list Aug. 13. He was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Aug. 29 with the aim of getting him back into the Tigers lineup early in September.

–RHP Al Alburquerque (concussion) went on the seven-day disabled list Aug. 12. He was transferred to the 15-day DL on Aug. 26.

–LHP Brad Thomas (sore left elbow) went on the 60-day disabled list July 25.

–RHP Joel Zumaya (right elbow surgery in July 2010) experienced pain in the elbow during his Feb. 27 spring debut, and he went on the 15-day disabled list March 30. He was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 18. He had exploratory surgery May 10, and he might be out for the season.
