Man Biking To All 30 MLB Ballparks

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 24-year-old Washington state man is giving new meaning to being a baseball fan. Darren O'Donnell is traveling the country by bicycle, visiting every single major league park.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Jayne Bower talked to him as he made his way into Detroit for Monday evening's Tigers game at Comerica Park.

"I've always liked baseball," said O'Donnell. "My first memory is watching baseball ... Braves/Pirates, MLB division series, back in the early 90's."

"I've just always been fascinated with the stadiums and how, you know, geometrically different they are, but yet you can play the same game with the same rules in all of them," he said.

O'Donnell is 9,000 miles into his 10,500-mile trip.

He travels about 100 miles a day and said he's enjoyed every second.

"There's, in my opinion, no better way to see the country. You acan ctually stop to enjoy some of the sights, rather than just traveling along the interstate watching just cars and guard rails ... and watching some good baseball as well," O'Donnell said.

The trip wraps up in Saint Louis on September 25.
