Hair Feathering The Hot, New Trend For Pets

SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) - Feathers are the hot look for not just humans, but for their pets. WWJ's Kathryn Larson found one local groomer who's taking the trend to the four legged world.

Renee McGee, owner of Kuts 'n Kisses Pet Salon & Boutique in Shelby Township, said she got inspired one day to bring the trend into the pet world.

"It's been a real hit. The first time I saw it was on my daughter Jordan, who is 20. I did some investigating and found out they had shorter feathers that they use for bangs, so I thought it would be cute to put it in the dog's fur."

McGee said she'll do feathering for the female pets, but even males are trying the trend.

"We have a lot of our customers who have boy dogs. So we have boy colors, we have dark blue and browns and blacks. It's not real girly, it's not bows and frills. All sexes like it."

It's not just for dogs either, a few cats are even sporting the trend.

At Kuts 'n Kisses, one feature will run you $7 or $5 for two or more. Click here for more information.
