Arts, Beats, Eats Festival To Last An Hour Longer

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - The final day of the Arts, Beats and Eats festival in downtown Royal Oak will last a little longer Monday night.   Organizers say they have received approval to keep the music going until 10 p.m., instead of 9 p.m.

Gates open at 11 a.m.

Festival producer Jon Witz said 50,000 people attended the festival Friday.  Despite the heat and storms Saturday, 200-thousand people attended over the weekend.  Witz said attendance would top 300,000 for the four-day festival, about 30 percent less than 2010.

Also happening Monday was the Detroit Jazz Festival in Hart Plaza and Campus Martius in downtown Detroit and the Romeo Peach Festival.
