Early Morning Shooting In Romulus

ROMULUS (WWJ) - Police are investigating an early morning shooting at an apartment complex on Middlebelt in Romulus.

WWJ's Mike Campbell reports the shooting took place at the Mid Apartment Complex on Middlebelt near Van Born Road.

Romulus Police and investigators working at the three-building, two-story apartment complex wouldn't say much, other than to confirm there was a shooting at the location.

The shooting woke up Kevin, who lives a few doors down from where police were investigating.

"I didn't see anything, I just heard the shots, it woke me up. It had to be like 10 [shots] that I heard. It was coming rapid. It didn't sound automatic, but it was rapid," he said.

Pete Dupuey, who also lives at the complex, said he was surprised to wake up and see yellow caution tape through his window.

"This is usually quiet around here. People get into their arguments and everything but, you know, nothing really major," he said

Police did remove one person from the scene in the back of a squad car, but gave no explanation as to why they did so.

At this time, it is unknown if any injuries have been reported.
