Romulus Names New Police Chief

ROMULUS (WWJ) - Romulus has a new chief of police.  Robert Dickerson, a 25-year veteran of the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, has been sworn in by Mayor Alan Lambert.

"Chief Dickerson is a decorated officer who brings a wealth of experience to the Romulus Police Department," Mayor Lambert said in a statement. "His background in law enforcement is very impressive and he already knows our city. I know he will lead our Police Department with the same vigor and demeanor that made him such an asset in the Sheriff's Department for so many years," he said.

A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Dickerson retired from the sheriff's department in 2008 and has been working for a web-based training company.  He said he is eager and excited about his return to law-enforcement and leading and serving the Romulus Police Department and residents of the city.

Former chief Michael St. Andre resigned last week due to illnesses in his family.
