ATF Uncovers More Information Into Attorney Car Blast

DETROIT (WWJ) - Investigators say they have new information into a blast that injured an attorney and his two children in Monroe last month.  WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports that the ATF has uncovered more details into the origin of the bomb blast.

Officials at the ATF now believe they know what was used to blow up the car of an attorney and his two children in Monroe last month.  Donald Dawkins says they've just gotten back the lab analysis on fragments sent from the scene and it shows how the device was set off.

"I'm not going to get into exactly how (the bomb exploded) but we are confident in what we believe and that's going to lead us to different directions that we are going to follow up on ... it's given us information that is vital, that is going to be vital," said Dawkins.

"We know what the device was, we know how it was initiated, and that has led us to additional leads, that we are covering ... even as we speak," said Dawkins.

Dawkins says they have several persons of interests in the case, but need more tips to narrow them down.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information.  The phone number to call is 888-8ATF.
