U-M Police Search For Dorm Robber

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - University of Michigan police are looking for a thief who broke into dorms at the West Quad Residence Hall over the weekend.

A crime alert posted by the public safety department says a fourth-floor student woke up about 5:15 Saturday morning and saw "an unknown male in his room." The suspect apparently had entered the room through a window from the roof. He ran out of the room. The student wasn't hurt.

Later Saturday, a second fourth-floor resident reported that when he woke up in the morning, cash and several personal items were missing from his room. There were no signs of forced entry.

The suspect has been described as a white male, 5'9", 150 pounds, dark hair, wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police say the best thing for students is to keep their doors locked, even while they are at home.

If you have any information, you are asked to contact the U-M Department of Public Safety at 734-763-1131 or call the confidential tip line at 1-800-863-1355.
