Grand Prix Forcing Date Change In Chamber Mackinac

DETROIT -- The Detroit Regional Chamber has changed the dates of the 2012 Mackinac Policy Conference to avoid a conflict with the resurgent Detroit Grand Prix.

Instead of the previous Wednesday-to-Saturday schedule, the conference will now be held Tuesday through Friday -- in this case, Tuesday, May 29 through Friday, June 1.

"In recognition of the return of the Grand Prix to Detroit and in support of this great event, the Detroit Regional Chamber has adjusted the dates of the 2012 Mackinac Policy Conference. It will begin a day earlier, on Tuesday, May 29, with Conference programming to conclude in time for an early departure on Friday, June 1," said Sandy K. Baruah, president and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber. "Adjusting the dates of the Chamber's annual Mackinac Policy Conference will allow for our business members and government leadership to participate in both events."

More than 1,500 business, community, education, legislative, entrepreneurial and labor leaders are expected for the event, which dates back to 1981.
