Alex Avila Reveals Sprained Knee In July

Alex Avila, who broke out as one of the best catchers in the game this season, revealed that he sprained his left knee in July.

"I have tendinitis," he told the Detroit Free-Press. "I don't think I have any ligament damage."

The Avila4-year-old's right leg also gave Avila trouble, as it buckled under the pressure of compensating for the left knee. After hitting .295/.389/.506 for the season, he slumped in October and collected just two hits in 25 at-bats, driving in one run.
